Prom Dresses

I'm not going to prom this year (I'm still in jr. high), but the Mia Maids thought it would be fun to dress up in prom dresses for mutual and take pictures. At first we were going to go to "Modest by Design" and try on their dresses, but they wouldn't let us. Thankfully, our leaders borrowed some prom dresses from four different girls in our ward for us to try on. They are sooooo gorgeous and it was really fun. Sadly, only three of us Mia Maids showed up. But that meant more for us!

So it was really fun and I had a great time. The dresses that I tried on that were Stacie Graham's were way too long for me even with high heels and there was one that was really itchy and weird. I loved them though and there was one that reminded me of Belle, one that reminded me of Aurora, and one that made me think of Cinderella. See if you can spot them! Here are the pictures we took!

Hundredth Post

Oh dear. It seems to have been quite a period of time since I have gotten around to this here blogging thing. But since my younger sisters aren't home yet and my parents have disappeared off somewhere, I will use this time to my advantage. You will also be pleased to be informed that this is my hundredth post. Isn't that grand?? I think so. So now to the interesting part about my wonderful life.

So in my last post, I was begging everyone to take my side in whether or not I should get a job at Lagoon. Well, I did indeed convince my mom to let me go to the job fair. And I did indeed get the job. And it is indeed wonderful. I'm doing games, and some people from my school are doing it too. My first meeting was last Thursday where I felt stupid because I don't really know where anything is because I only go there once or twice a year. But I had the meeting and there were a lot of people there and I got the info and got more excited for my job. My next meeting was supposed to be on Monday, but I was stuck inside of a car with the Conrads for 12 hours so I missed it. Therefore, I'm going to another meeting tomorrow to make up for it. I also have training this Saturday, and then I start working in April. Pretty cool stuff. After my meeting on Thursday, however, I didn't feel like waiting for Mom to pick me up, so I just walk/ran home. It only took an hour :P

The next day, I headed to California for Grandma and Grandpa Stevens' farewell. I went with the Conrads because they wanted to trade Porthos for me. We got there at 3AM on Saturday morning. It was amazing how there were no little sisters fighting over polypockets and no one was fighting over who got to sit where. So I had a good time there playing games and spending time with my family.

The next day we went to church where Grandma and Grandpa gave their delightful talks. It was interesting being at a ward in California. All of the youth were in one sunday school class and there weren't that many, and there were three young women. They were talking about how they already stand out in their schools because they're LDS and people watch them so they need to be good examples. I looked at Amanda and we both just kinda smiled. Not in Utah. The non-LDS people stand out. It was cool though. And I got to sight-read a hymn for young womens because no one there could play the piano except one lady could sort of play with one hand. I did an exceptional job, if I do say so myself. The sunday school and young women classes gave out a lot of candy for answering questions, but it was easy to answer because most of them you just say "pray!" "go to church!" "pray!" "read your scriptures!" "pray!"

The Stake President came over later to set Gamma and Gammpa apart and then we had delicious brownies that Cheryl so nicely made. I then played two games of settlers. Settlers is my favorite game and I don't get to play it very often. That's why whenever I'm around people who like to play Settlers in my family, I pounce.

The next day we went home. I got up early and had Grandpa's amazing pancakes and then left at around 9 or 10 AM I think. My amazing aunt and uncle got us all some Chinese food (yum!!!) for lunch and McDonald's for dinner.

It felt good to be home, even though it was at midnight. I had spent the whole entire day in the car. I stayed up another hour cleaning my room like a good little girl, yet I didn't do my homework. I told Ashley earlier that I would pay her $10.50 if she did my history, but Mom found out and said no. Therefore, I just didn't do it. Oh well, it was only 40 points. I didn't do a 50 point assignment last term in choir and still got an A-, and the computers at school were being stupid so I was unable to do a 100 point paper in English, but I still got a B. As long as I get really good scores on everything else, I'm good.

Today I went to school.

The End of my hundredth post!!!!

Working at Lagoon

Hey peoples of the blogging community. My life has been so spectacular that I can hardly believe it..... not really, but I can hope.

So... I really need some help from my fellow reader(s), I have no idea how many people read this. If you do, give me a shout out some time. My request is that you give me an honest opinion about me working at a certain place, but I need all of you to take my side. I would like to work at Lagoon this summer. For those of you who don't know, Lagoon is an amusement park that is a mile or two away from my house which is a pretty fun place to have near your house with roller coasters, swimming area, golf course, camping area, pioneer village, kiddy rides, and games, but not as fun as Disneyland and Six Flags (I've never been to Six Flags though, but I can imagine...) Click on this particular sentence for a magical portal to the Lagoon website.

Anyway, Mom didn't let Ashley work there because she heard they were bad about letting people off on Sundays, so I was totally cool with not working there because there's no way I would work on a Sunday. But, Anthony Bailey worked there last year, and he's going to this year, and he said that he's never had a problem with getting Sundays off. My school was conveniently having a career week this week, and the eight graders got to have job interviews yesterday. We got to fill out an application and make a resume. They also courteously gave out applications for Lagoon. Therefore, I used this to my advantage.

During my English class, I had my "fake" job interview. I requested to have my interviewer be someone from Lagoon. We had to wear dress clothes for our interview and act all professional (haha me professional! I can't even spell the word right, it's only spelled right on here because I used spell
check). So I went in and shook the nice lady’s hand, and we started my interview. “Tell me about yourself” Uhhhhhhhhh….. I’m usually unusual, according my blog. But I said something like “I like to learn new things and challenge myself” and other things, which are actually true, I wasn’t lying. She asked me what my strengths are, weaknesses, how I would rate myself on stuff, what a good employee should do, how I would define “honest”, and past experience. I said that I dog-sat for Marjorie and did eBayish stuff for Dad (I didn’t use those terms, I tried to talk professionally). She also asked what my references would say if she asked them about me, which I answered truthfully. Lori might say that I’m good at planning out stuff (because I was the Beehive president :P) and Jill would say I’m a good girl. It was hard answering those because I didn’t think of anything to say before hand, so I had to think super duper fast and use good grammar (which I was able to do thanks to Hannah :D). I thought I did a spectacular job. When we got to the end, she asked if I had any questions. So I asked her about getting Sundays off at Lagoon and she said that she works in the games department and that they’re really good about making sure that people get Sundays off and she doesn’t usually have any problems. Yay!! I then said something like “Oh good! Because I was actually interested in working at Lagoon so I had been wondering about that, but that sounds grand.” Well, not exactly, but you get the point. So she then gave me a small fois de papier about the Job Fair at Farmington Jr. High that they’ll be having and she said that she would definitely hire me because I sounded and looked professional and I’d be a great addition to her employees. She then told me some things I need to work on for job interviews, which happened to only be looking confident. I didn’t feel confident, but then I did after that.

So after school was out, I enlightened Dad about my fabulous discoveries, and then Dad later informed Mom about how my interview went. I really want a job there, and here are some reasons why I think I should:

  • I get paid
  • No work on Sundays
  • Even if I did, by the slimmest chance, be told I had to work on a Sunday, I'd tell them no and/or quit
  • My friends will be working there
  • 2.5 college credits
  • free entrance
  • it's nearby, so I can ride my bike, take the bus, or beg for a ride
  • It will be fun
  • It's good practice for working in the future
  • I really want to.
And, according to the website:
  • Free entrance to Lagoon
  • End of season bonus
  • Family Days where your family comes to Lagoon at an incredible discount
  • Discount coupons for friends and family
  • Earn high school credit through the School to Careers program
  • Excellent incentives and employee recognition programs
  • Employee parties throughout the season
  • Discounts on park merchandise
  • Meet new friends
  • Competitive wages
  • Opportunity to advance and gain supervisor experience
  • College Scholarships through the Robert E. Freed Foundation

So, it's still Mom and Dad's choice, but I want to work there super duper bad and it will be so fun and I'll make money to help buy things so my parents don't have to buy them for me, or to save up for college. I want everyone's honest, nice, on my side, opinion please. Should I get this great opportunity? Me thinks it would be awesome.
